Sialorrhea (Excessive Drooling) | Decreasing Saliva Production

Sialorrhea or hypersalivation literally means excessive saliva flow.

In order to effectively treat this problem and diminish the invasiveness of operative interventions, Interventional Radiologists at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, developed an alternative procedure called Salivary Gland Ablation. This animation explains the condition and procedure in-depth.

If you, or your child, have been diagnosed with sialorrhea and want to pursue minimally invasive treatment, set up a consultation with an Interventional Radiologist – https://bit.ly/3iDiAei

Sometimes kids just drool a lot and there is no cause for concern but other times excessive drooling can be a sign of an underlying medical condition. Because your son is 20 months old and you’ve noticed that he just doesn’t seem to stop drooling, it seems like it’s excessive, it would be best to bring it up with the doctor. They can ask you more specific questions, check him out, and then decide if further investigation or treatment is warranted. If you have any other questions for me though feel free to ask them on our Facebook page and recommend us to your friends and family too.

How to treat Drooling Rash

guide No Comments »

Babies drool. It’s a fact of life. Pediatrician Tanya Altmann explains how more often than not, you will find saliva dripping out of your baby’s mouth. This is normal! However, the persistent wetness on a baby’s chin, cheek, and neck can cause a drooling rash, which is simply a skin irritation due to the constant wetness. If your baby develops a rash, apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly or Aquaphor on the dry areas several times a day for a few days to help. If the rash persists, see your pediatrician, just in case there is a secondary infection.
