Babies drool. It’s a fact of life. Pediatrician Tanya Altmann explains how more often than not, you will find saliva dripping out of your baby’s mouth. This is normal! However, the persistent wetness on a baby’s chin, cheek, and neck can cause a drooling rash, which is simply a skin irritation due to the constant wetness. If your baby develops a rash, apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly or Aquaphor on the dry areas several times a day for a few days to help. If the rash persists, see your pediatrician, just in case there is a secondary infection.
